Nothing too exciting. Round 1 on last year's tyres, just learning to drive again after 6 months rest.
Also some interesting temperature log from this round. Shows the intake temp (sensor behind the throttle) and coolant temp gradually climbing in my 3min run at the sprints. Ambient temp was about 30 degree celcius. The intake temperature is actually taken from inside the manifold, thus it is post intercooler temp. It definitely does show the factory intercooler not coping with heatsoak. Same can be said for the coolant radiator.
This is only at 300hp with boost set at 1.4bar. By the end of the run the temps are at levels where the ECU will start to pull timing back. Will be interesting to see how I go on with additional hp(same boost) on next round, may be the Elf will keep the temp in check. I'm starting to see why keeping the boost limit at turbo's efficiency zone is important for the factory turbo+intercooler.
Note the intake temp + coolant temp rise |
